Anonymous asked: do you ever think about how the fashion industry is really superficial and everything that spews from it doesn't contribute at all to society? like get a real career as a teacher or doctor?
when people say things like that it literally makes me grind my teeth
SAME. SAAAAME. fucking same.
Fashion def doesn’t contribute positively but it can contribute negatively or even neutrally I guess
im going to sound really defensive but there are many people within the industry (mainly the women) who do so much for this industry that is could be positively contributed to society- people like prada and kawakubo are important to the industry AND society because they went beyond to challenge the feminine idea and empowered so much through the very creation of fashion.
^ exactly and without the industry, then where would all of the stylists, seamstresses, retail workers, photographers, writers, editors (the list goes on) work? Without the industry they would then be forced into other work and that in turn would put pressure on the job market and the demand for jobs. What’s the point of having doctors/teachers when you can’t afford to see one because you don’t have an income.
